What were the companions (may Allāh be pleased with them) of the Messenger Muhammad (ﷺ) upon? Or, is that which I am practising today what Allāh’s Messenger (ﷺ) practised?
Understand the methodology of The Companions (may Allāh be pleased with them all), after all, they learnt their religion directly from the best of teachers, Prophet Muḥammad (ﷺ)! What way would be better than their way? Indeed they were upon Islām just as it was revealed!

“It was reported that ʿAbdullah b. Masʿud – Allāh be pleased with him – said:
The people will remain upon goodness as long as knowledge comes to them from the Companions of Allāh’s Messenger (ﷺ), and from their seniors. But when knowledge comes to them from their younger ones, that is when they will be destroyed.”
