Q - 1 What are the types of Kufr (disbelief)?

There are two types of Kufr :

  1. Major Kufr which takes a person out of Islâm, and thus the one who dies upon Major Kufr will be in the Hellfire eternally.

  2. Minor Kufr which does not take a person out of Islâm.

Q - 2 What are the types of Major Kufr?

There are five types of major Kufr :

  1. The Kufr of denial.

  2. The Kufr of arrogance associated which makes you not recognise the truth.

  3. The Kufr of doubt.

  4. The Kufr of disregard.

  5. The Kufr of hypocrisy.

Q- 3 What are the categories of Hypocrisy?

There are two categories of Hypocrisy:

  1. Hypocrisy in Belief.

  2. Hypocrisy in deeds and actions.

Q- 4 What is the hypocrisy in Belief?


There a six types of Hypocrisy:

  1. Denial of the Messenger of Allâh (ﷺ).

  2. Denial of the things which the Messenger was sent with, his Sunnah.

  3. Hating the Messenger of Allâh (ﷺ).

  4. Hating things from the Qurʾân and the Sunnah - for example hating the Jilbâb, or the beard, or the wearing of garments halfway between the knees and ankles.

  5. Rejoicing at the disgrace of Islâm.

  6. Disliking the prevalence of Islâm i.e. You don’t like to see Islâm spreading.

Q- 5 What is the hypocrisy in deeds and actions?


The hypocrisy in deeds and actions is of five types:

  1. When he speaks, he lies.

  2. When he promises, he breaks it.

  3. When he is entrusted, he betrays.

  4. When he disputes, he acts immorally.

  5. When he makes a pact, he acts in a deceptive manner.

Q- 6 Are good deeds accepted by Allâh when there’s Shirk in them?

None of the deeds are accepted when mixed with polytheism. Allâh says:

ذَٰلِكَ هُدَى ٱللَّهِ يَهْدِى بِهِۦ مَن يَشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ ۚ وَلَوْ أَشْرَكُوا۟ لَحَبِطَ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ

This is the Guidance of Allâh with which He guides whomsoever He wills of His slaves. But if they had joined in worship others with Allâh, all that they used to do would have been of no benefit to them.

(Q.6: 88)

إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يَغْفِرُ أَن يُشْرَكَ بِهِۦ وَيَغْفِرُ مَا دُونَ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَن يَشَآءُ ۚ وَمَن يُشْرِكْ بِٱللَّهِ فَقَدْ ضَلَّ ضَلَـٰلًۢا بَعِيدًا
Verily! Allâh forgives not (the sin of) setting up partners (in worship) with Him, but He forgives whom He wills sins other than that
(Q.4:116)

Q- 7 What are the nullifiers of Islâm?

The nullifiers of Islâm are ten:

  1. Associating partnership in the worship of Allâh.

  2. Whoever puts between himself and Allâh an intermediary, calling upon him, and asking him for intersession, and putting full trust and reliance upon him.

  3. Whoever does not attest to the fact that the Mushikûn are disbelievers, or doubts that they are disbelievers or considers their way to be correct.

  4. Whoever believes that the guidance of others is more perfect than the Prophet (ﷺ)’s guidance, or that someone else’s judgement is better than his judgement.

  5. Whoever hates anything that which the Prophet was sent with, even if he acts/ implements that thing.

  6. Whoever jokes or mocks any part of the religion of Allâh its rewards or punishments.

  7. Sorcery/ Magic. Whoever does it or is pleased with it has disbelieved.

  8. Helping the polytheists against the Muslims.

  9. He who believes that some people are exempted from abiding by the Shariʾah as Khidr (عليه سلام) was exempted by the laws of Musa (عليه سلام)

  10. Turning away from the religion of Allâh by neither learning nor applying it.

Q- 8 What are the three fundamentals that every Muslim must learn?


The three fundamentals are:

  1. Knowing Your Rabb (the Lord, Allâh).

  2. Knowing your religion (Islâm).

  3. Knowing your Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ).

Q- 9 What is Taghût?


Everything that is worshipped, or followed or obeyed other than Allâh and they are pleased with it (the worship, following, obedience) is a Taghût.

Q-10 Who are the leaders of Taghût?

They are:

  1. Shaytân, may Allâh curse him.

  2. Anyone who is worshipped with his consent.

  3. A person who invites people to worship other people instead of Allâh.

  4. A person who claims the knowledge of Ghayb (unseen, hidden, invisible, absent etc).

  5. The ruler who rules by laws other than the law sent down by Allâh.
