Your Appointed Time Will Meet You, So What Have You Put Forth? - Day 6 (1444.h)

And every nation has its appointed term; when their term comes, neither can they delay it nor can they advance it an hour (or a moment).

Sūrah Al-A’raf, Āyah 34

And how many nations were destroyed before us? Every nation has its appointed term, and this nation likewise has its appointed term. And when that term comes, it will not be delayed so that you can repent and there will be no second chances. Many of us live as though we’ll never die, forgetting that the only thing guaranteed in this life is death. Many of us get caught up in making plans ahead of next week, ahead of next month, and ahead of next year in preparation for what we are not even certain of. Why then do we not make plans for that which we are certain of? Why then do we not prepare for our deaths? What have you put forth o servant of Allāh?

What if our appointed term is next week? Or next month? What if it’s the next second? What have we prepared for our meeting with The Lord of The worlds?

Whatever it is you’re chasing after in this Dunyā (world) at the expense of your Ākhirah (afterlife) I swear by Allāh it will perish, and only that which is with your Lord (ﷻ)  will remain. Allāh, The Mighty and Majestic, mentioned:

كُلُّ مَنْ عَلَيْهَا فَانٍۢ

Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish.

Sūrah Ar-Raḥmān:26

And know, may Allāh guide you to His obedience, that when death overtakes us there will be no second chances. The time you and I have is now, this is our chance to strive, this moment, this day. It’s our chance to do better, our chance to repent, our chance to make better friends who will encourage us to worship Him alone. We can’t delay the time of the departure but we can make our luggage heavier, we can get more provisions for the journey. And your Lord has said:

وَتَزَوَّدُوا۟ فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ ٱلزَّادِ ٱلتَّقْوَىٰ

And take a provision (with you) for the journey, but the best provision is At-Taqwa (piety, righteousness)

Sūrah Al-Baqarah:197

Have you ever wondered why the previous nations were destroyed? Simply, it was because they did not actualise and implement the Tawḥīd of Allāh’s worship. Allāh has related to us their stories in the Qurʾān not just for us to repost on our Social Media stories without pondering over them, rather they were revealed for us to make corrections, to learn from their mistakes. How much loss would we be in Aḥibbah (beloved ones) if we were to fall into the same mistakes after being informed about them previously?

Let’s not leave it too late to make the appropriate changes, let’s change today. Let’s become more conscious of Allāh today, let’s worship, love and fear Him. We should flee from people who take us far away from Allāh today, obey our parents today, and learn our religion today! Indeed the next hour is not guaranteed for any of us. Upon us is to make good use of the time we have left before our appointed term, in the obedience of Allāh (ﷻ). So take heed and be warned of overstepping the boundaries set by Allāh, and do what you must for your Deen (religion), and strive to please your Lord; because you will return to Him alone, just as He created you alone.

So we ask Allāh to make us from those who strive to seek His pleasure upon Tawḥīd and The Sunnah of His Messenger (ﷺ) till our appointed time meets us.
