The noble Shaykh, Ṣāliḥ ibn Fawzān al-Fawzān mentioned:

Innovation in the religion is of two types:

The First Type:

Innovation of speech and belief. Like the statements of the Jahmiyyah, the Mu’tazilah, the Rāfiḍah, and the rest of the misguided sects and their beliefs.

The Second Type:

Innovation in acts of Worship, like worshipping Allāh with worship He did not legislate.
