Not One Secret Will Be Hidden - Day 4 (1444.h)
وۡمَئِذٍ تُعۡرَضُونَ لَا تَخۡفَىٰ مِنكُمۡ خَافِيَةٌ
That Day shall you be brought to Judgement, not a secret of you will be hidden.
Sûrah Al-Haqqah, Âyah18
﷽
And man is ever forgetful!
How many verses, how many Ahadîth (Hadiths), how many lectures, how many articles have we read about the day when we will stand in front of our Lord and be judged by what you have put forth?
And for how long do we get moved? Perhaps a day, a week or two maybe? And then what? We're back to square one. We remember everything temporary, but forget that which is certain, that which Allâh has promised to happen, and the Promise of Allâh is true!
How many times do we consciously hide in darkness and give in to our desires, forgetting that the vision of The One who created the darkness is not blurred even for a moment, may Allâh safeguard us. And how will you answer to those deeds on a day where no secret will be hidden? Verily, He who created us knows our secrets even before they become secrets.
And indeed We have created man, and We know what his ownself whispers to him. And We are nearer to him than his jugular vein (by Our Knowledge).
Sûrah Qâf 50:16
Oh servant of Allâh, remember The Day you will stand in front of Allâh and be questioned about everything you have put forth, and how would it be when we are questioned about the cold water we quenched our thirst with, or when you are questioned even about reading this? Do you think you would be able to bear it?
Oh sinner, oh one who has transgressed against himself, if we were to be judged upon only that which we commit openly, where do you think you stand? Then how about those private affairs which you hide from the creation but stand no chance with The Creator.
Our hands will testify against us, our eyes, our ears, our tongues, our legs, all these limbs will testify against us by Allâh, we are not ready for Allâh's judgement in the slightest.
How often do you think about that standing?
ʿAbdullâh Ibn ʿUmar (May Allâh have mercy on him and his father) narrated that he was with The Messenger of Allâh (ﷺ) when a man from the Ansâr came to him and he gave Salâm to The Prophet (ﷺ) and he said "oh Messenger of Allâh, which of the believers are the best"? He (ﷺ) said "the best of them in manners"
He said "and which of the believers are the most intelligent/wise"
He (ﷺ) said "those of them who remember death the most and those of them who prepare for that which comes after death the best, they are the most wise" *
How often do you think about the destroyer of pleasures, how often do we think about what comes after it? How would it be when our evil deeds are presented before us on a day where not even the deepest of secrets will be hidden?
يَوۡمَ يَفِرُّ ٱلۡمَرۡءُ مِنۡ أَخِيهِ
That Day shall a man flee from his brother,
Sûrah ʿAbasa 80:34
Tafsir Ibn Kathîr:
Even ʿÎsâ bin Maryam will say: "I will not ask Him (Allâh) concerning anyone but myself today. I will not even ask Maryam, the woman who gave birth to me."
Wallâhi your mother and your father will flee from you, and you will flee from them, and on that day it will only be "myself, myself". But what have we done for ourselves? What have we put forth for the day where not even our nakedness would matter to us?
We have very small provisions for a very long journey, we ask Allâh to aid us in remembering that He
May we not be bankrupt on a day when our families and our wealth will not avail us.
