One Day You Will Stand Before Allâh - Day 3 (1444.h)

O mankind! Be afraid of your Lord (by keeping your duty to Him and avoiding all evil), and fear a Day when no father can avail aught for his son, nor a son avail aught for his father. Verily, the Promise of Allâh is true: let not then this (worldly) present life deceive you, nor let the chief deceiver (Satan) deceive you about Allâh.

Sûrah Luqmân, Âyah 33

Indeed, from the characteristics of the true believers in Tawhîd is that they fear Allâh the Exalted, and they constantly remember and fear the Day of Resurrection (Al-Qiyâmah, The Day of Standing); a day in which the faces of the believers in Tawhîd will be bright, as for the disbelievers, their faces will be covered in darkness. And Allâh's refuge is sought!

Without doubt, the instruction to fear Allâh and that day is directed towards all of mankind, for that reason Allâh, The Exalted said (the meaning of the verse): "O mankind!", and this is an address to us all to fear that day! The Day we will all be brought to account for every deed we've done and every sin we belittled, a day where no father will avail his child and no child will avail his father. Subhân-Allâh! On this day an individual will flee from his nearest and dearest relations… Imagine fleeing from the family we care about so much… The family we go all out for, and sacrifice much for in this Dunyâ, have you ever imagined that? These ties of kinship can rarely be severed in this life even when things turn sour, yet the calamity of that Day will be so great that we will hold those relationships to be of no significance. Every one of us on that day will only be worried about ourselves, and for that reason, we should take ourselves to account now.

The great Imâm, Wahb bin Al-Munabbih was reported to have said: ʿUzâyr (عليه السلام) said:

"When I saw the misfortune of my people, I felt very sad and distressed, and I could not sleep, so I prayed to my Lord and fasted, and I called upon Him weeping. There came to me an angel and I said to him: 'Tell me, will the souls of the righteous intercede for the wrongdoers or the fathers for their sons?' He said: 'On the Day of Resurrection all matters will be settled, and Allâh's dominion will be made manifest and no exceptions will be made. No one will speak on that Day except with the permission of the Most Merciful. No father will answer for his son, or any son for his father, or any man for his brother, or any servant for his master. No one will care about anybody except himself, or feel grief or compassion for anyone else. Everyone will be worried only about himself. No one will be asked about anybody else. Each person will be concerned only about himself, weeping for himself and carrying his own burden. No one will carry the burden of another.''' (1)

Many of us tend to shy away from acting upon the religion even though we have a desire to, and we do that because we are scared of what people might say or what they might think about us… But will we not remember Allâh and fear the day we will stand before Him? Remember that Allâh will question us alone, our friends and those that label us as 'x' and 'y' will now make excuses for us before Allâh. Do we feel bold enough to tell Allâh that we feared His creation more than we feared Him?

Our mother, ʿÂ'ishah (رضي الله عنها) reported that the Messenger of Allâh (ﷺ) said:

"The people will be assembled barefoot, naked, and uncircumcised." I said, "O Messenger of Allâh, will the men and women look at each other?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "The matter will be too serious for them to notice." [2].

Reflect upon this Hadîth, ponder over the fitnah (trial and temptation) that exists between the men and women in this life, the affair of that day will be so great that none of us would even be concerned about the opposite gender.. So what will the Harâm relationship have been worth on that day? What will looking at Harâm on our phones and on social media be worth?

Know, may Allâh honour you, that Shaytân only makes false promises, the happiness that you might think doing Harâm, listening to music, reading zodiac signs and all is all but a deception from the chief of deceivers.

یَعِدُهُمۡ وَیُمَنِّیهِمۡۖ وَمَا یَعِدُهُمُ ٱلشَّیۡطَـٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُورًا.

"He [Shaytân (Satan)] makes promises to them, and arouses in them false desires; and Shatân's (Satan) promises are nothing but deceptions." (3)

Therefore, O servants of Allâh fear Allâh and comply with His commands and stay away from what He has made forbidden. Make whatever you do for the sake of Allâh, for indeed no one can avail you on the Day of Resurrection, not even your close relatives. Therefore it is not worth it to disobey Allâh trying to please anyone, trying to please friends and relatives. Even though it is a must to give them their rights, it is prohibited to disobey Allâh in order to please them; just as our noble Messenger Muhammad (ﷺ) taught us, there is no obedience to the creation in the disobedience of The Creator (4). Everyone will become a stranger on that day, and the only thing that will avail us is our fear of Allâh and the good deeds we'd perform seeking the Face of The Owner of Honour and Nobility.

We ask Allâh to make us from those whose faces will be bright, those who would laugh and rejoice at the good news of Jannah on that day, the day when other faces will be dust-stained and covered with darkness (May Allâh protect us).
