The Ruling On One Who Fasts Ramadān But Doesn't Pray

Questioner:

Shaykh, regarding someone who fasts but neglects prayer, will his fasting be accepted?

Shaykh Ṣāliḥ b. Fawzān Al-Fawzān (‏حفظه الله):

Fasting wouldn't be accepted from a Muslim unless he commits to praying on time and with the congregation (for the men). This is because Ṣalāh (prayer) has more emphasis over fasting. It is the second pillar among the pillars of Islām, and it's the backbone of Islām, and fasting is the fourth pillar of Islām. So, neither fasting nor any other act of worship is valid with the neglect of Ṣalāh (prayer).
